Darwin Party

Sometimes a party is not a party, it's a competition. Today's event is dedicated to Charles Darwin, natural selection, and survival of the fittest. We won't get into too much of the scientific stuff, instead, it's all about who can be the best specimen of a human being. Bundle up, if you can't handle being in less clothing, because you'll be spending a bit of time outdoors in the harsh winter.

February is National Black History Month. The time is used to recognize important achievements and contributions made by African Americans throughout history. In honor of the observance, why not celebrate African American culture with a Black History party? It's a wonderful opportunity to teach your children about this significant and ongoing chapter of American History.

Berlin Wall Party

It's hard to fathom that it has been 20 years since we saw David Hasselhoff wearing that ridiculous light up jacket getup while serenading fans…as the Berlin Wall crumbled! Yes, today is the 20 year anniversary of the crumbling of the Berlin Wall, which divided communist East Germany (and essentially the whole Eastern Bloc) from West Germany and the freer western world. The fall of the Berlin Wall has come to symbolize the end of the Cold War and paved the way to Germany's official reunification in 1990. Celebrate this historic event with a tongue-in-cheek East vs. West party.

Book clubs are often an excuse to get together and eat fancy, tiny sandwiches and gossip under the auspices of being cultured and sophisticated. We feel such an event should have a more laid-back approach, even poking fun at the haughty taught-y snobby types. So pick your favorite book (or one you've been meaning to read), whip up some snacks, invite some friends, and start reading.
